He draws so much attention on the ice, scores, and sets up his teammates. Toronto needs to give him the puck and let him do his thing. Toronto averages over three goals a game on less than 31 shots. That is an efficient statline, so it goes without saying that if they increased their shot output to 35, they could have four goals. This is increasingly true today, as they will face one of Los Angeles’ subpar goaltenders. Drew Doughty is still competent in that role, but the rest could use some help.

Regardless, they need to play better tonight and limit the Maple Leafs’ shots. If they keep Toronto under 30 shots, the Kings might have a chance. The Maple Leafs have two stars in Mitchell Marner and Auston Matthews. Matthews is more known, but Marner has more points than him. Either way, they have combined for 62 points in 27 games and are a killer duo when playing together.

The Kings started the season with Jonathan Quick and Cal Petersen as their goaltenders. However, they placed Peterson on waivers after poor play and brought up Phoenix Copley. Copley will likely not provide Los Angeles with the goaltending they need but will be better than Peterson. Regardless of who is the backup is in LA, it should be no surprise when I say that Los Angeles’ goaltending situation is problematic.

Murray will be on the bench tonight but Toronto is in good hands with Ilya Samsonov. Last season saw a three-week break inserted for participation in the Winter Olympics, though NHL players ultimately did not attend. This season, the Kings have a ten-day break around the 2023 NHL All-Star Weekend in Florida. Unlike last season, April is back to its shortened nature, with the Kings playing just seven regular-season games, ending on 4/13. With that in mind, the league will return to more normal calendar with the first round of the postseason coming in April as opposed to May.

Bettors are aware of the team defensive game the Leafs have had to adjust to thanks to the injuries on the blue line. Even though he had two goals last game, he is not known for scoring, which is why he can catch the Maple Leafs off guard. Auston Matthews is a wizard with the puck and averaging over one point a game.

Scored twice on the power play in a 4-2 win when the Leafs were playing their worst hockey of the season. The Leafs’ recent struggles on the power play can easily be traced to its opponents as the Buds have faced seven Top-15 PK teams over their last eight games including five Top-7 penalty-killing teams. Because of that, we might be getting a better price on the Leafs’ power-play props and Marner at +150 to get a PP point and extend his streak is the best value on the board. The Leafs’ power play has a great opportunity tonight vs. an L.A.
